MEDIA STATEMENT: Strength of Canadian Regulatory Environment
The Direct Sellers Association (DSA) of Canada is aware that some of our members have been contacted by media outlets wishing to discuss recent events pertaining to the direct selling industry in the United States. The DSA is aware of these events and will continue to work on behalf of our members to highlight the fact that Canada’s direct selling landscape is a different arena with different regulations than the U.S. However, at the cornerstone of the DSA in the U.S. and all the DSAs around the world, our Code of Ethics is paramount.
Our goal at the Canadian DSA is to work closely with government bodies in Canada, including the Competition Bureau, to ensure that all direct selling companies are held to the highest standards of ethical business practice. This extends to the 1.2 million independent sales contractors operating in Canada who are the driving force of our industry, 95% of whom would recommend direct selling to a friend or relative according to the most recent Socio-Economic Impact Study of Canada’s direct selling industry.
