Congratulations to our 2023 Award Winners!
On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, we announced the recipients of our 2023 Awards at our annual conference – En Route to Excellence, in Montreal, Quebec.
The Awards honour and recognize individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to the direct selling industry in Canada.
“This year’s award recipients are examples of industry excellence in Canada,” said Peter Maddox, President of the DSA. “Through their continued dedication and passion, they help to enrich the lives of many Canadians and we are inspired by their many accomplishments.”
The DSA Canada Award winners for 2023 include:
- IVAN P. PHELAN AWARD – Joe Cardillo, General Manager, Vector Marketing Canada/Cutco.
As the industry’s highest personal recognition, the Ivan P. Phelan Award was presented to Joe Cardillo, who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of the direct selling industry in Canada, through his thought leadership, humble service, and advocacy efforts.
- Industry Innovation Award – Tocara for PopStreams.
The Industry Innovation Award was awarded to Tocara for their implementation of “PopStreams” a program unique to the Canadian direct-selling industry which contributes to growth opportunities for independent sales consultants (ISCs). “PopStreams,” a social selling tool, powered by StreamStyle, provides short, click-to-shop videos, which connect directly into an ISC’s back-office software. This software helps ISCs focus their time and energy on building customer relationships and growing their business.
- Making a Difference Award – Mary Kay Cosmetics – The Look Good Feel Better® Program.
The Making a Difference Award was awarded to Mary Kay Cosmetics for making a profound difference in the community for their active participation in the Look Good Feel Better® program. Since the program’s inception over 30-years ago, Mary Kay Cosmetics has been actively involved in the program, suppling product donations and participating in the delivery of complimentary beauty workshops for people undergoing cancer treatments. Over 60% of volunteers who help run the program’s beauty workshops are Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants and in 2022, the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation sponsored a donation match campaign which raised a total of $73,997 for the program.
- Direct Selling Education Foundation (DSEF) Circle of Distinction Award – Stephanie McVeigh, CEO and Founder, Strategic Incentive Solutions.
The DSEF Circle of Distinction Award was presented to Stephanie McVeigh of Strategic Incentive Solutions for her many years of service and considerable contributions to the DSEF and the direct selling industry.
- Partnership in Progress Award – Gowling WLG.
This award was presented to supplier member Gowling WLG, for providing excellent service to numerous active member companies, making a measurable impact and contribution to their businesses.
- Distinguished Service Award – Vida Achundsada, Senior Manager of Business Relations, North America at Mannatech and Eamonn Flaherty, Partner at Miller Thomson LLP.
The Distinguished Service Award was presented to Vida Achundsada and Eamonn Flaherty for their participation, leadership and continued support of DSA Canada and its mission.
